Cox Medical Center South is the region's only Comprehensive Stroke Center. This certification is reserved for hospitals that provide highly advanced therapies and are equipped to treat even the most complex stroke cases. CoxHealth is committed to delivering safe, high-quality stroke care to aid in treatment, management and rehabilitation of stroke patients.

Gold Plus Performance Award with Elite Honor Roll

The CoxHealth stroke programs at Cox Medical Center South and Cox Medical Center Branson are among a select few in the nation to earn the American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Award with Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll. This award recognizes our hospitals for continued success in stroke treatment programs and applying the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve patient stroke care and outcomes.

Rural Silver Award

Cox Barton County Hospital and Cox Monett Hospital earned the Get With The Guidelines® Rural Hospital Silver Stroke Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for demonstrating a commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most up-to-date and appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

Rural Bronze Award

Cox Medical Center Branson was recognized with the American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Rural Bronze Award.

Stroke Honor Roll

Cox Medical Center South has also been named to the American Heart Association Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll, and Cox Medical Center Branson to the Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll, for treating stroke patients who are eligible for tPA treatment within an hour of their arrival at the hospital. tPA can improve blood flow and increase your chances of recovering from a stroke, but it must be given within three hours of your first stroke symptoms.

Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll

Cox Medical Center Branson was named to the American Heart Association Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll for providing the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when patients are hospitalized due to stroke.
