Intraoperative Monitoring
During some surgeries or procedures, a trained technologist will monitor your nervous system in real time.
Your surgical team will use this information during surgery to observe any changes that could occur to your nervous system and take corrective action if necessary.
Incidences of paralysis, muscle weakness, hearing loss and other symptoms following surgery have been reduced thanks to these intraoperative monitoring techniques:
- Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SEP)
- Electroencephalogram (EEG)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- Transcranial Motor Evoked Potentials (TCMEP)
- Brain mapping
