The Center for Health Improvement offers FREE classes and support groups.

We also offer Change Your Course classes that require no referral and cost $151.79 to attend.

Community Classes and Support Groups

Diabetes Support Group

Who's it for?

This class is for anyone diagnosed with diabetes.

What's it about?

Each month offers new information as well as an opportunity to give and gain support from others with the illness.

When is it?

This class occurs on the second Thursday each month from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the CoxHealth Surgery Center. To register, call 417-269-4847.

Living a Healthy Life with Diabetes

Who's it for?

This class is for anyone diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes.

What's it about?

This class is designed to help you better manage diabetes.

When is it?

This class is composed of one six-week course with two-hour sessions each week. To register, call 417-269-4847.

Feel Better Now: Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions

Who's it for?

This class is for anyone with a chronic condition or who has a loved one with a chronic condition.

What's it about?

This class explains how to manage your illness using a variety of methods.

When is it?

Each Feel Better Now class is offered twice annually. To register, call 417-269-4847.

Advance Care Planning Workshop

Who's it for?

This class is for anyone over 18 years of age.

What's it about?

• What kind of medical care would you want if you were too ill or hurt to express your wishes?
• Who would speak for you if you were too sick to make health care decisions?
• Have you talked to your loved ones about your wishes?

Respecting Choices of the Ozarks provides free assistance to you and your loved ones to help answer these questions. We can help you have these discussions and complete a written plan to make your wishes known.

An advance directive is an important document that states your wishes for health care if you are unable to speak for yourself. It’s always too early until it’s too late.

When is it?

This class occurs on the first Monday of every month with alternating times of either 1:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. To register, call 417-269-4847.

Change Your Course Classes

Autoimmune and Arthritis

Learn what role food plays in autoimmune and arthritis symptoms and treatment. Includes an overview of the most common autoimmune diseases and types of arthritis, anti-inflammatory diets, activity guidelines, and the vital role the gut has to play in all of it!

IBS

Learn more about the causes of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and how to manage symptoms with simple diet and lifestyle changes.

#FoodFreedom: Finding Balance

A course that focuses on learning to trust our bodies once again using a flexible, no-nonsense approach. Based on the principles of intuitive eating that have been shown to enhance satisfaction with life, self-esteem, body appreciation, and self-compassion while reducing binge/disordered eating, food-related anxiety, uncontrolled eating, and depression. Learn about how you can have a fuller life without constant thoughts of what you will eat.

Improving Cholesterol and Lipids

Learn more about your Health Risk Assessment (HRA) blood draw results and how you can reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

Eating Healthy on a Budget

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive. This class will include ideas for meal planning, budgeting, meal prepping, and fun ways to incorporate nutritious elements into easy dishes you likely already have the skills to create.
