CoxHealth's Hulston Cancer Center was the first approved Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center in Springfield.

In addition to offering cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment, we have many other resources to provide education and support. Our goal is to maintain a healing environment focused on comfort and overall well-being. In addition to the programs and resources listed below, we have monthly pet therapy visits and volunteer musicians.

Nurse Navigators

Nurse navigators work with your physicians to identify and organize your care to best fit your individual needs. Your navigator is a single point of contact for you and can help you during the diagnostic process, schedule appointments and help you understand your disease and treatment options. The program is free of charge. In Springfield, navigators are available to support our patients with gastrointestinal cancers, breast cancer, lung cancer and cancers of the head and neck. To meet with a nurse navigator, call 417-269-5257.

Patient Advocates

Patient advocates can answer your questions as well as provide information, understanding and support throughout your cancer care and beyond. This program is unique to southwest Missouri. You may meet with your patient advocate on your first visit. At that time, your advocate will talk with you about your needs, and you'll learn about helpful resources. The patient advocate's main role is to listen, then to help match your needs to the best resources. Patient advocates can help connect you with various resources, including:

  • Educational programs
  • Coordination of transportation and lodging
  • Financial assistance programs
  • Behavioral health programs
  • Nutritional services
  • Pastoral care
  • Support groups
  • Prescription assistance
  • Community resources

Patient advocates are available by phone or to meet with you at any time throughout your care at Hulston Cancer Center. To reach an advocate, call 417-269-5257.
