Sharyl Alendry, DO

I was born in Gujarat, India, and moved to Naperville, Illinois, with my family when I was ten years old. I got my bachelor’s degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and went to medical school at AT Still University in Kirksville, Missouri. After finishing medical school, I fell in love with family medicine. The broad scope of practice that family medicine offers and the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships with patients is a passion of mine.

Some of my hobbies are cooking, reading, and hiking. I love reading mystery novels and watching horror films and TV shows. I’m a huge Grey’s Anatomy fan, and have watched all the episodes from every season. I also enjoy reading the Bible and doing devotions. Trying new foods from different cultures and recreating them in my kitchen has always enjoyable and challenging.

One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family and friends. I have three siblings. An older sister, Shally, and two younger siblings, fraternal twins, Sheal and Shiza. I have a nephew, Micah, who is adorable.

The opportunity to join CoxHealth is exciting and a perfect fit for my career. I chose CoxHealth because everyone I met during my clerkship here was friendly and supportive towards each other. I truly felt that everyone was a part of one family, and that was something that I was looking for in a residency program. Each person is genuinely dedicated to patient care and passionate about teaching others. I am thrilled to start my journey at CoxHealth and serve the community of Springfield.
