Melanie Kim, DO

Hello! My name is Melanie, and I'm from the small town of LaSalle, Illinois, one and a half hours outside of Chicago. I spent most of my childhood dancing and playing piano, which has translated into active yoga practice and a continued love of music as an adult.

I attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where I majored in Medical Anthropology. This unique field influenced my humanities based approach to medicine and has encouraged my own interests in the role of culture in health and disease. It also planted the seeds for my belief in healthcare as a human right, care for the underserved and passion for social justice in medicine. Following graduation, I worked as a medical scribe in a primary care clinic, then worked at a nonprofit doing contemplative activism. I attended osteopathic medical school at Des Moines University, and knew early on that family medicine is the perfect fit for me.

I'm thrilled to start residency at CoxHealth, where I felt welcomed during my interview process. I also look forward to being close to family in St. Louis and Arkansas, and exploring the beautiful Ozark region with my fiancé and high school crush, Mike. When not in the hospital and clinic, you can find me listening to podcasts, walking my mini Goldendoodle, Guinness, or caring for my 80+ houseplants.
