Colby Smith, DO

My name is Colby Smith. I was born in Nevada, Missouri, and have been lucky enough to call southwest Missouri home my entire life. I grew up on and have helped care for my family's small cattle farm while attending school. I have visited Springfield many times throughout my life and am excited to continue my training while exploring the Ozarks.

I attended Missouri Southern State University, where I attained a Biology Degree in pursuit of medical school. Afterward, I was accepted to Kansas City University and attended at the Joplin Campus. I gained great experience there, working in a variety of specialties, but ultimately was most fulfilled and happy during my family medicine rotations. I chose CoxHealth after speaking with my role models about their experience with residency, and nearly all of them were graduates of this program! I knew for certain after completing an audition rotation that this was the place for me, because of the supportive faculty, fun and helpful staff and the unopposed, full-scope training being top-notch and close to home.

My interests in medicine are varied and include rural medicine, preventative care, especially in the male population, inpatient medicine and wound care. Outside of medicine, I enjoy hunting and fishing, going on hikes, barbecuing, financial well-being and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
