Visitor Parking

Each parking lot is available for visitor use. Handicapped parking is available near each entrance. Please do not park in the driveways directly in front of the main entrances; these areas are reserved for patient loading and unloading.

Cafeteria

Our cafeteria is open 7 a.m.–2 p.m., Monday – Friday, and grill orders are accepted 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Please call 417-269-9653 to place an order. If you’re visiting a patient, you may place an order through our Room Service option and pay when the food is delivered to your loved one’s room.

Gift Shop

Magazines, cards, toiletries and gift items are for sale in the Gift Shop. View our gift shop page for locations, contact information and hours.

Chapel

Patients and visitors are invited to meditate in our chapel, which is located just beyond the East Lobby Information Desk. The chapel is always open.

Nearby Hotels

Several hotels are conveniently located near the Meyer Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital.

ATMs and Internet

• There's an ATM outside the cafeteria and in the lobby of the fitness center.
• Patients and guests have access to our free high-speed wireless internet. To connect, search for available networks and select CoxGuest. A password isn't required.

Shuttle Service

We offer a free shuttle service. It goes within the Cox Medical Center South and Meyer Orthopedic and Rehabilitation hospital campuses. Call the hospital operator to schedule a ride.

During Your Stay

Interpretive Services

Interpreting services are available for patients as needed.

Nurse Phones

You'll see our nursing staff using cell phones while on duty. These aren't personal phones. They cannot use them to call or text friends and family. These phones belong to CoxHealth. The phones connect to your medical record. Nurses use the phones to talk to other members of your health care team. They help the nurse give you medicine safely. Your nurse is alerted on their phone when your call light is on so you'll get attention fast.

Patient Education Videos

Tune in to channel 2 on the TV in your room for information about CoxHealth. Your nurse may assign videos for you to watch to help you learn more about your care. The videos are free. To watch videos, dial 69-7191 from your bedside phone or ask your nurse for help.

Rapid Response Team

Dial 333 from a hospital phone and tell the operator you need the rapid response team. Give the patient's room number or location.

Reasons to Call the Rapid Response Team

• Weakness in the face, arms, or legs
• Chest pain or a fast heartbeat
• Change in the color of the skin to pale or gray
• Sudden sweating
• Difficulty walking or speaking
• Change in alertness
• Less awake than normal or agitated
• Sudden loss of consciousness or fainting
• Bleeding or a seizure
• Any change in the way they look or feel

When to Call the Rapid Response Team

• If you feel the patient's medical condition is quickly getting worse
• If you aren't able to get help by calling for the nurse

Telecommunications Device for the Deaf

Ask your nurse for information.

Medical Durable Power of Attorney

• Helps to define your treatment preferences for end-of-life care beyond advance directives
• Used throughout your care from home, doctor's office, and hospital admissions
• Transfers easily from one health care facility to another, if necessary

Support Services

Bedside Prescription Delivery

Delivery is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tell your nurse you want your new prescription medicines delivered to you in your patient room.

• A pharmacy representative will visit with you to discuss your medicine.
• Insurance copays apply.
• Payment is due at the time of delivery.
• Talk to your nurse if you need help paying for your medicine.

Cox Plaza Hotel

Reserve a Room

This 30-room hotel is conveniently located on the second floor of Wheeler Heart & Vascular Center, directly across the street from Cox South, via the National Avenue Skywalk. To learn more information, stop by the registration desk or call 417-269-5900. Other hotel arrangements may be made through the Customer Service office at 417-269-4112. 

Laundry Facilities

Your nursing staff can assist you with laundry, as time permits.

Pastoral Care

Chaplains are available for spiritual counseling and support. Ask your nurse or contact the Pastoral Care department. A chapel is available for your use.

Pet Therapy

A dog and their handler will visit your hospital room. They'll help provide comfort and enjoyment as you cope with health problems. Call Volunteer Services or tell your nurse if you want pet therapy. It may take 24 hours to fulfill your request.
