CoxHealth interventional cardiologist to serve on national committee

Dr. Sridevi Pitta, an interventional cardiologist with CoxHealth, has been invited to serve as a voting member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Quality Improvement committee. Through her role with SCAI, Dr. Pitta will help support the organization’s efforts to promote excellence in invasive and interventional cardiovascular medicine through education and representation, and the advancement of quality standards to enhance patient care.

Additionally, as a member of the group’s Quality Improvement committee, Dr. Pitta will provide guidance and recommendations for development of SCAI policies and positions related to healthcare quality improvement initiatives, with emphasis on quality measures, public reporting of quality measures, pay-for-performance initiatives, interventional cardiology standards development, and radiation issues.

Dr. Pitta has served at CoxHealth since 2017, and is also the health system’s Cardiovascular Quality Council medical director and Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) medical director. She led the health system to begin offering radial Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), a minimally invasive procedure used to help relieve symptoms of coronary heart disease, reduce damage after a heart attack and open coronary arteries that are narrowed or blocked by plaque.
