CoxHealth's mission is to be the region’s leader in preventing and minimizing the debilitating effects of a stroke. As the only certified DNV-comprehensive stroke center in the southwest region, we strive to improve the quality of care received by all stroke patients through professional education programs. This conference will discuss a broad range of topics related to stroke.

Someone in the US has a stroke about once every 40 seconds.
Stroke accounts for 1 in every 19 deaths in the US.
Stroke kills someone in the US about every 3.5 minutes.
When considered separately from other cardiovascular diseases, stroke ranks No. 5 among all cause of death in the US, killing approximately 150,000 people per year.
Each year, about 800,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke. Approximately 610,000 of these are first attacks and 1 out of 4 are recurrent attacks.
Stroke is a leading cause of serious long-term disability in the US.
Global prevalence of stroke in 2017 was 104.2 million. Of that, 82.4 million deaths were related to ischemic stroke, 17.9 million deaths were a result of intracerebral hemorrhage, and 9.3 million deaths were due to subarachnoid hemorrhages.
Stroke was the second-leading global cause of death behind heart disease in 2017, accounting for 11 percent of total deaths worldwide.
The target audience for this activity includes Physicians, Nurses, Pre-hospital, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and all others of interest caring for the stroke patient. Contact hours available.
