Opportunities for experienced international nurses at CoxHealth

Taking your nursing career to the United States is a serious undertaking. And the right employer will have a significant impact on your quality of life and experience in this country. CoxHealth proudly offers support with relocation, transportation, assimilation, and job skills to help you transition to life in the U.S..

Candidate qualifications

Candidates are required to have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. You must also have recent medical-surgical experience in a country with similar nursing practices and equipment to the U.S. (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Singapore, UK, Ireland, UAE, or Canada). We are not hiring directly from the Philippines.

We prefer candidates who have already passed the NCLEX.

NCLEX

Passing the NCLEX is required before starting the immigration process. However, if you have yet to pass the NCLEX, but meet other qualifications, we encourage you to still apply. If selected, we will assist you with NCLEX preparation. Because the Missouri Board of Nursing requires a social security number, you will need to take the NCLEX through a different state. Many nurses go through Texas, Illinois, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Overview of the immigration process

  1. CoxHealth will file your I-140 with premium processing, which guarantees a response within 15 days rather than the typical months-long process.
  2. After the I-140 is approved, the National Visa Center will issue the fee bill.
  3. Our immigration attorney will collect your civil documents.
  4. Pass an English exam, which is required for the VisaScreen certificate and the Missouri endorsement process. Please note that the Missouri Board of Nursing only accepts the IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC for the English exam requirement.
  5. Obtain your VisaScreen certificate through CGFNS, which is required for the green card process. Additional information can be found on the CGFNS website.
  6. Complete online DS-260 form.
  7. Schedule an Embassy Interview. Retrogression may affect how quickly you can schedule your embassy interview.
  8. Receive your U.S. Visa.
  9. Relocate to the U.S. within the six-month validity period of the U.S. Visa.

Endorsement process for Missouri RN license

Once you arrive in the U.S., you'll need to complete the endorsement process through the Missouri Board of Nursing to earn your Missouri RN license. The Missouri RN license is required for international nurses to practice nursing at CoxHealth. Until you receive a Missouri RN license, you will complete the pre-licensure phase of orientation and practice within your appropriate scope. Visit the Missouri Board of Nursing to learn more.

International Nurse Fellowship Program

Our International Fellowship Nurse Program includes a 12-week orientation with hands-on skill and equipment practice specifically designed to help you successfully transition into your new role. You will take classes in U.S. culture, RN scope of practice, pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, physical assessments, and more. To learn more, contact hr-internationalrecruitment@coxhealth.com.

Louie Ann Sabariaga

"America is the land of opportunity. It is one of the best places to live, work, and enjoy life as a whole. I am so grateful each and every day that God gave me a chance to experience this life-changing opportunity."
