Who should take the course?

This course is designed for perinatal clinicians who previously completed the AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring course, a comparable fetal monitoring educational program and/or who hold certification or added credentials in fetal heart monitoring.

Course Covers

The AWHONN advanced fetal monitoring course expands on knowledge and physiological principals presented in the AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring course. This course emphasizes:

  • The physiology of fetal-maternal oxygenation
  • Interpretation of tracings
  • The selection of clinical interventions
  • Perinatal risk-management principles

Course Delivery

This course uses a case study approach to focus on the analysis of maternal-fetal physiology related to complex clinical information and fetal heart rate tracings. An optional knowledge integration test is available.

  • CNE/CME contact hours: 7.0/7.0 (0.75 hours pharmacology credits available)*
