Who should take the course?

This course is designed for CoxHealth employees who have successfully completed the Two-Day, Step One Cardiac Dysrhythmia Course and routinely use telemetry monitoring in the patient care setting. A basic knowledge of telemetry skills and associated pacemakers of the heart is required. THIS COURSE IS FOR COXHEALTH EMPLOYEES ONLY.

Course Covers

The 12 Lead ECG Interpretation for Acute Coronary Syndrome course addresses the principles of monitoring the heart's electrical patterns, including:

  • Brief review of the heart’s basic anatomy.
  • Explanation of the various leads and their purpose.
  • Description for the correct acquisition of the ECG.
  • Identify patterns related to ischemia, injury, and infarction in contiguous leads.
  • Interventions related to ACS.
  • Describe potential mimickers of ACS.

Course Delivery

The course includes lecture and practice identifying ECG strips. Students are expected to actively take part in the discussions.
