DAISY Award Honoree - Hailey Nix

April 16, 2025 Blog, Springfield

It’s time to highlight another 2025 DAISY Award honoree! This recognition is given to nurses who go above and beyond to serve our patients.

Today, we are featuring registered nurse Hailey Nix. Hailey was nominated by a patient’s loved one for the compassionate support she provided during an incredibly difficult time.

“My fiancé went into systematic failure – heart, liver and kidney failure. Once we arrived at the ER, their condition declined very rapidly. It only got worse after we were moved to the CCU. When the care team saw that my fiancé was holding on better than they expected, we were moved to comfort care where Hailey had been floated to. God definitely put her where she needed to be that day. She came in just to check if we needed anything frequently and when I needed a break to step outside, she took my place and watched over my fiancé for me. One of those times when I returned, I found the two of them praying together. I was completely alone through this whole ordeal despite being told multiple times that I should have someone there for support. For some of us, that is nearly impossible. I think Hailey noticed and decided to be that person for me. And I 100% believe that on that day, God put Hailey where she was needed the most. I feel I owe her my life because without her I’m sure I would have lost my sanity. I can’t tell her THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH nearly enough! She cried with me, laughed with me, and hugged me when I needed it. She was going to come and say hi on Thanksgiving, but sadly my fiancé passed the day before. Thanks again, Hailey. Much love to you and yours.”
