Cox Barton County Hospital enhances breast cancer detection with 3D mammography technology
Cox Barton County Hospital is enhancing breast cancer detection and care by upgrading its mammography equipment to state-of-the-art 3D technology, thanks to generous funding from the CoxHealth Foundation.
The 3Dimensions™ system offers more precise and detailed images, enhancing early detection of breast cancer. Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), also known as 3D technology, captures multiple images of the breast from different angles, providing radiologists with a more accurate view and increasing diagnostic confidence.
“This investment by CoxHealth in local 3D mammography highlights our unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality care to our patients,” says Andrea McKay, president of Cox Barton County Hospital. “With this upgrade, we are ensuring that women in our community have access to advanced screening technology right here at home.”
The upgrade of mammography equipment and the 64-slice CT scanner announced last fall are made possible through donors' support to the CoxHealth Foundation.
“Our donors are individuals who seek to invest in good health, which is the vital essence of our communities,” says Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to all who support the Foundation, enabling us to purchase transformative technologies that can make a profound difference for our patients, regardless of their location.”
