Springfield’s first hospital birth of 2023 is a boy
The first baby born at a Springfield hospital in 2023 arrived at 12:25 a.m. and is a healthy baby boy.
Baby Brantley Mykhael Brennan arrived at Cox South weighing five pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 19 inches long.
“My water broke at 8:15 p.m., and he was here just after midnight. I was surprised and thankful at how quick and smooth the whole process was,” says mom Caitlin Goebel.
Brantley is the first child of Caitlin and Kodey Brennan, and both parents say parenthood already feels like second nature.
“I was really calm through everything, and now that he’s here it feels so natural. I’ve always wanted to be a mom, and now that he’s here, he’s perfect,” says Caitlin.
The family was given a gift basket in celebration of the birth from the CoxHealth Auxiliary and Administration. It included a grey stuffed elephant, a 3-piece baby set that includes a blanket, rattle, and a small yellow duck. The family’s basket also includes a picture frame, a Warmies mama and me kangaroo, along with a scrapbook, swaddle blanket, and congratulatory cards.
