Springfield’s first hospital birth of 2021 is a girl

Minutes after midnight, Springfield welcomed the first hospital birth of 2021: Baby Brynlei, who arrived at 12:17 a.m. at Cox South.

She was 6 pounds, two ounces, and 18 inches long. Even soon after her birth, the new baby was already awake and alert.

“It took her no time to open her eyes,” says mom Whitney Evans.

Brynlei is Whitney’s third child, the first daughter after two big brothers. However, the family will soon grow again when Linzey Brown, Whitney’s girlfriend, also has a baby in the coming weeks.

“We had a really good experience,” says Linzey. “Last night was so smooth.”

The family was presented with a commemorative basket in celebration of the baby’s birth. It included a stuffed bear, blanket, pillow, letterboard set, and other gifts from the CoxHealth Auxiliary and gift shop.
