CoxHealth named one of America’s best employers for new graduates by Forbes
Forbes has recognized CoxHealth as one of America’s Best Employers for New Grads for 2023.
Of the 300 companies recognized across the country, CoxHealth ranked in the top 30 among companies in the Health Care & Social category and No. 162 overall. CoxHealth is also the only health system headquartered in Missouri to rank in the Health Care & Social category.
The list is based on results of a survey with Forbes and market research firm Statista. They surveyed over 28,000 young and early career professionals in the U.S. working for companies with at least 1,000 employees.
“Recent graduates entering the workforce have high expectations for their employers, and we’re honored that our young professionals find value at CoxHealth,” says Andy Hedgpeth, vice president of human resources at CoxHealth. “A big focus of our strategic plan is workforce development and investing in our people, and it’s encouraging to see that our young colleagues recognize that.”
CoxHealth has more than 12,500 employees and 45 percent have a bachelor’s or associate degree.
Participants were asked to rate their employer in areas such as reputation, salary and benefits, education and career advancement opportunities, working hours and atmosphere, quality of work, DEI initiatives, whether good performance is recognized and whether they would recommend their employer to friends and family.
CoxHealth has several programs focused on supporting employee growth both professionally and personally. CoxHealth Young Professionals (CYP) is an internal group focused on fostering business, personal and professional development for both clinical and nonclinical roles. Meanwhile, CoxHealth’s internal Center for Professional Development offers training, education and resources designed to support our colleagues as they grow their careers. As we work to support our team members in all areas of their lives, we have recently expanded programs supporting employee well-being, including the launch of virtual platform Modern Health and a local partnership with Burrell Behavioral Health.
“We scored in the 86th percentile nationally on our engagement survey for 'My supervisor encourages my career growth,' which we were thrilled to see. It shows that our focus on career growth goes beyond programs and initiatives and permeates the day-to-day work of our colleagues,” says Hedgpeth.
