Two of CoxHealth’s hospitals are shining brightly: Both Cox Medical Center South and Cox Medical Center Branson have been awarded four-star ratings from the Center for Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest ranking of any hospitals in the region.

“It is extremely important to us that we provide exceptional care for this community,” says Vicki Good, CoxHealth’s system director of Patient Safety. “We are thrilled with this designation, because it proves our staff’s commitment to making our patients’ experience a great one.”

CMS awards star rankings – five stars being the highest – based on 57 measures that are combined into a star rating for each hospital. The measures include areas such as mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging. Only 22.3 percent of hospitals across the United States achieved a 4 or 5 star rating, and only 1.81 percent reached five-star status.

Only acute care facilities are eligible for recognition, making CoxHealth’s other hospitals – Cox Monett Hospital, Cox North Hospital and Meyer Orthopedic Hospital – ineligible to be rated.
