Cox Monett adds nurse practitioner to its inpatient care team

A familiar health care provider has returned to the area, committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered care. Cox Monett proudly welcomes Shanna Chapman, a nurse practitioner, to its medical team.  

Chapman, who grew up in Purdy, is excited to be home.  

Chapman will work alongside the hospitalist or inpatient physician to provide high-quality care for hospitalized patients. Adding a nurse practitioner to assist physicians in the Medical-Surgical unit is a new initiative for the hospital. Chapman expressed her excitement about collaborating with the hospitalist team, including Dr. Ronda Azelton.

"I loved the idea of coming home and helping people I know," said Chapman. "Cox Monett has a great reputation as a wonderful place to work and receive care—it's something I found appealing and knew I wanted to be a part of."  

Chapman felt called to become a nurse, driven by her desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives.  

"From an early age, I witnessed the profound difference that compassionate care can make during a health crisis," she says. "The nurses who provided both medical support and emotional comfort inspired me to pursue this noble profession."  

As the number of hospitalized patients grows at Cox Monett, Chapman's role will involve examining patients, reviewing their medical histories, collaborating with the hospitalist to address any immediate health concerns, and helping to determine the best short- and long-term treatment options.  

"Adding a nurse practitioner to the hospitalist team brings numerous benefits that will continue to enhance patient care and improve overall health outcomes," Chapman says. 

Outside of work, Chapman enjoys spending time with her 18-month-old grandbaby, who she says is the "light of her life. " She is also working to finish building a home.   

"I already love it here," says Chapman. "I'm so proud to be at Cox Monett, and working with Dr. Azelton and the entire staff is simply amazing!"
