CoxHealth Foundation funds advanced imaging technology and state-of-the-art rehab equipment

A large crowd gathered in the hospital's lobby on an unseasonably warm day in October to witness the unveiling of the advanced 64-slice CT scanner and updated rehabilitation area.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark a new era in rural health care was a great success.

This significant CT scanner upgrade will enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities, providing our rural community with access to advanced imaging technology.

Dr. Jeremy Sturgell, medical director of the Cox Barton County Hospital ER, highlighted that as a Level III Stroke Center, the upgraded equipment will enable the medical team to provide timely care and precise diagnoses, thereby improving patient care and outcomes.

Funding for the 64-slice CT scanner was provided by the CoxHealth Foundation through its donors.

Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation, expressed her optimism: “We are honored that our donors see an investment in health care as an opportunity with tremendous impact. We will witness the community thriving as we bring advanced technologies to Cox Barton.”

The hospital recently expanded its cardiopulmonary space to provide patients with more comprehensive care. The updated area now features additional patient exam rooms, a larger gym area, and a new space for respiratory care, which includes stress tests and pulmonary function testing.

The CoxHealth Foundation, in collaboration with the Cox Barton County Hospital Auxiliary, generously provided financial support to purchase state-of-the-art exercise equipment for the newly expanded rehabilitation gym area. This investment will significantly enhance the range and quality of rehabilitation services available to our patients, contributing to their overall health and well-being.
