Success Stories Angela's Success Story My name is Angela. I lost 42 lbs. When I started my journey I had very low self-esteem and no confidence in myself. I felt worthless, unimportant, lazy, tired all the time and down on myself for not taking care of my body.I have an 11 year old daughter who is watching my every move. One day she told me she wanted to be “just like her mom” and I knew I had to make some changes and be a better example for her. I'd finally reached the point in my life when I knew I wanted to make a change and I was ready for something better. One of the greatest challenges I faced initially was that I didn’t have time for myself. I finally realized that if I didn’t take care of “me”, I couldn’t take care of anyone else in my life. I had to make the decision that I was worth the time to take care of my body. I put “me” time on the calendar every day to ensure I got my workout in. At times, I really struggled believing that I could accomplish my goals. I was constantly down on myself and didn’t celebrate my small victories along the way. Then I started working with personal trainer Adam Grube at CoxHealth Fitness Center at Republic. I also took the TRX classes with Adam and Cardio Strength classes with Terri. I received the direction I needed and got some amazing advice from both Adam and Terri.Overall, I achieved amazing results.I’ve taken off many inches, I have definition and I’m so much stronger than I was a year ago. I’m most proud that I have more confidence in myself than I’ve had in years. Now that I see results and changes happening, I finally believe that I can accomplish my ultimate goals. I walk a little taller, I have more confidence and I’m more outgoing. I’m also more active in my everyday life and I feel amazing. A couple of things will continue to motivate me. First is my daughter. She tells me how beautiful and “skinny” I am and she has started a healthier lifestyle as well. Second is the way I feel. I feel energized every day. By working out and making better food choices I feel like I’m taking good care of myself and I love that feeling.I’d tell those starting a weight loss journey to: Believe in yourself, you CAN do this!Make a promise to yourself that you WILL do this and keep that promise! Take it one workout at a time, one day at a time, one pound at a time and you will get there!
